Graham’s Delicacies, Em Ali – Review

Six people and three love stories all in one bakery.

Jen goes to work, agonizes over college, and looks forward to the stolen moments in the kitchen. There she can watch Emilie bake love into every morsel. Their delicate friendship takes a step towards a budding romance, but will Jen’s anxiety help them survive their first hurdle?

James has never been kissed but he wants to be. Especially by his co-worker Sam, who he can’t talk to without turning into a little jerk. Sam is made of all the good stuff, but will James’ deepest insecurities allow him to kiss the boy?

Alex won’t let some foodie with a video camera bash their beloved bakery, even if it means to be petty. Except they’re nowhere ready for Yujin, the one who got away and is now romancing them. Will Alex’s pride let them see the gold heart the bashful king hides?

There is so much about this little collection of novellas that I adore, I don’t even know where to start! Firstly, it is QUEER HEAVEN, y’all! Absolute queer heaven! I love the abundance of queer characters on page here. So nice to see so many of them together! ❤

All of the characters, the six of them – Jen, Emilie, James, Sam, Alex, and Yujin – are so effing shiz amaze. I love them all so much. My little munchkins, the lot of them. Just being all cutesy and adorkable and just about everything all at once. I really loved reading about them.

Starting with Saccharine, it was a cute love story between Emilie & Jen. Emilie joins Graham’s Delicacies as a baker and Jen, who has been working there as part of the waitstaff for a while, is instantly smitten. They start out as friends and slowly progress into more over a period of time, working side by side and hanging out. I loved seeing them grow from friends to more and just be all cute for each other. It was really nice to see the cute, blushing Em come into their own as they spent more time with Jen. Literal heart eyes.

Delectable, the story focusing on James & Sam, who both have been working at the bakery for a while, though, was definitely my favourite of the trio. James is an absolute, complete cinnamon roll baby and gods, I love him so much! It would not be incorrect to say that he is probably my favourite out of all characters in the stories as well. I loved him right off the bat, when he was introduced in Saccharine and my love grew as I read Delectable. Sam, nerd extraordinaire is closely vying for the spot of fave with James. Such a cutie. I adore him so much. And, gods! THE MUTUAL PINING. YASSSSSSSSSS. I am here for it. My fanfic loving ass is a fan of the trope, because of course. And I just absolutely, completely, wholly loved their romance! Cho cute! ❤

Ravenous follows the story of our other baker, Alex, and a food blogger, Yujin. This was a closeted, somewhat enemies to lovers, in a way romance and I enjoyed it thoroughly. There were undercurrents of a lot of sexual tension between these two and it was fun to see their rapport build. I loved them. Alex, tho! My baby! I adore them so very, very, very much. They’re just ❤

All the romances were cute, fluffy, and really, really, really heartwarming. I loved how it was just cute stories about people falling in love and finding the one person who meant so much to them. We didn’t have any unnecessary issues or miscommunications. Just perfect to curl up with after a long day to feel warm and happy. It certainly left me feeling that way.

Em has done such a great job in bringing these sweet romances to life, and I absolutely love them all! Definitely a must read for all romance fans. ❤

Em Ali grew up on TV and K-pop like many her generation. She learned a lot about how to be a hermit and not interact with people but she’d love to hear from readers through email!
