Lucian Divine, Renee Carlino – Blog Tour

luciandivine_03-1-1-1“My guardian angel is a drunk.”

Evelyn Casey’s life is at a standstill. She’s in her mid-twenties, struggling with the dating scene in San Francisco. Nothing seems to be working out, and she’s starting to think that she’ll live out her days in her crummy apartment with her overbearing roommate, Brooklyn. It’s absurd, but sometimes Evey longs for a guardian angel to show up and save the day.

And then he does. Seriously. His name is Lucian and he’s a guardian angel, been on the job for two thousand years. His sudden presence in her life is both good—he’s brilliant, witty, and warm—and bad—he’s brilliant, witty, warm, and hot as —-. But as perfect as Lucian seems, he’s got problems of his own. He’s taken up drinking and he’s brazenly inserted himself into Evey’s life, going against the greatest cosmic law ever created.

For Evey, the rules are simple: You are not allowed to hook up with your guardian angel. But sometimes fulfilling your destiny requires a leap of faith, a confrontation with God.

Yes, God as in God.

This book. *sighs* This book.

Lucian Divine is the story of Lucian, a guardian angel, who falls in love with the soul he’s assigned to protect, Evelyn. Lucian has been guarding Evey since she was born, but he’s also in love with her. Her constant trysts with other men have driven Lucian to alcoholism and one fine day, when he can’t take it anymore, he tells her everything – that he’s her guardian angel, that he loves her, that they can’t be together. Then, he erases her memory, but he doesn’t do it right because Evey still remembers him. Then, she falls for him and yada, yada, yada.

“You are everything to me. You’re the dream, the air, the reason, the cause for my whole existence.”

 – Lucian

It’s clear that the best thing about this story is Lucian. His love for Evey is so all consuming, so huge, so much, it pours out of him. He’s ready to die, just to be with her. And however hard Evey tries, she can’t convince him to kill her so that they can be together because hurting Evey causes him unbearable pain. He comes close once, but is unable to go through with it because it’s hurting Evey. Yes, he loves her a whole lot. I admire that about him. That he is so in love with her and he’s not afraid to tell it to the world. He literally tells everyone he meets about her. Even though his best friend, Zack and his supervisor, Mona, advice him against getting together with Evey, what with him being an angel and her being human, he overlooks them and goes on to marry her. But, then, trouble finds them and everything that could go wrong, goes wrong.

But, the determination that Lucian has, to always protect Evey, to love her more than his own life, is there within him throughout the story and that’s amazing. I love that about him!

“Evelyn, I’ve existed for more than two millennia. In two thousand years, I have watched over so many lives. At times, more than five souls were my responsibility alone. I’ve watched all of them die. I’ve held many of them while they were dying. It’s in my nature to do that, to give peace to my souls, to look out for them when I can, to sway the good ones to do the right thing, and to protect man and life here on Earth. I’ve watched over stunningly beautiful and brilliant women, but I have never felt love for any human the way I feel it for you. You are literally the air in my lungs.”

Now, then, what I didn’t like.

It was too insta love. I understand that Lucian is Evey’s guardian angel, so he’s made in such a way that Evey can’t help but love him and he’s been in love with her for years, but it still feels too rushed. They’ve just met and they’re spending every moment together, getting engaged in two weeks and married in two months. Whirlwind romance, yeah?

And, then, we know how Evey fell in love, sort of, but how about Lucian? I would loved his side of the story, before he told Evey who he was.

As much as the plot kept me on my toes, at times it felt like everything was happening too fast and I didn’t have the time to fully grasp what was actually happening. It was great that I didn’t get bored, but I would have liked it if there was a breather somewhere in the middle.

“Evey, next time, in the next life we’ll be together—that’s how this will be corrected. This will be righted. This can’t be our forever fate. Next time we’ll live together, we’ll die together. We’ll experience every war together, inside ourselves and outside in the world. We won’t be out of reach, unavailable, unattainable, just love longing to be. Let’s keep moving fast in opposite directions. Keep praying we meet on the other side. I’ll see you there; I know I will. I have to believe that. Watch for me. I’ll be barreling toward you, arms wide open, and then we’ll crash into each other with the force of two spent lives yearning to be one.”

All in all, it’s a great book with a good story, well rounded characters and nice writing style. I would recommend it to the romance fanatics who like the insta love trope and the drama that generally accompanies it.

Rescued, Phoebe Rose – Blog Tour

Welcome to my tour stop for Rescued by Phoebe Rose. Rescued is a New Adult romance with snark, witty banter, and kittens. Can be read as a standalone. It is rated 18+.

Thomas is a hot geek, a twenty-three year old entrepreneur with no time for dating…and even less time to deal with the stray kittens who’ve claimed his patio as their home. Seattle college senior Tessa is a born rescuer, warm and caring–and sick of getting her heart bruised by guys like Thomas. But when he sees her rescue a kitten while wearing kitten heels, he’d do anything to kiss her. And while Tessa vows she’ll never let herself fall for a sexy, ambitious businessman, she fears she’s already in over her head.

This book is good. I like it. I mean, the story is not something that is new, but the writing is great. The way the characters are portrayed – their behavior, their personality, their emotions – it’s what makes it great. I like the quirkiness and the smart, sarcastic vibe that is there in this book the entire time.
The characters are really, really good. I like Tessa so much! She’s this ball of sarcasm and wit wrapped into procrastination and warmth and kindness who just demands to be loved by the reader. She’s a little insecure and a whole lot naive, but she is absolutely awesome! I love her. Really, I do. She’s such an amazing person. Kind and forgiving and loving. Always there to help her friends. Rescuing animals. Yeah, she’s great! 😀
Thomas is also real nice. He’s smart and stupid intelligent. Yes, I know that they’re opposites. I mean, he’s really, really intelligent. He’s younger than 25 and has already sold two of his start ups and is the CEO of his third. So, yeah crazy intelligent. He’s snarky and possessive and protective and just amazing. He’s super adorable and just melts your heart!
Like I said, the writing is what drew me in. The story is fast paced and doesn’t make you wait and doesn’t bore you. Which I like. I just wish that there had been a chapter or two before the epilogue. Seriously, the ending was a little rushed. I wanted to see more of the conflict resolution than what was shown. If the author would have done that, this book would have been so much better than what it is now. True story.
But, apart from that one issue I seem to have with this story, everything else is great! It really, really is! I loved it! So, so much! Makes your heart melt and smile so damn bad.
A definite recommendation for a light hearted, cutesy read on a weekend! 🙂

Wasted Words, Staci Hart – Release Day Review

Wasted Words Ebook Cover

Some universal truths refuse to be ignored.

Peanut butter and jelly are a match made in heaven. Spaghetti and meatballs are best friends forever. And guys like Tyler Knight don’t go for girls like Cam Emerson.

She knew from the second she met him that he didn’t belong on her bookshelf, the six-foot-six ex-tight end with a face so all-American, it could have sold apple pie. So she shelved him next to the supermodels and rock stars and took her place on her own shelf — the one with the flannel-clad, pasty-faced comic book nerds. Most of her boyfriends have existed between the pages of books, but rather than worrying over her own lacking love life, she puts all her energy into playing Cupid, using her job at the book bar, Wasted Words, as her stomping ground.

Tyler Knight always looks on the bright side. His career-ending injury turned into a job as a sports agent. A horrible breakup led him to Cam, his quirky, smart roommate who is far more beautiful than she realizes. She’s made it perfectly clear she’s not interested in him — not like that at least — but if she ever changes her mind, he won’t hesitate. Because he doesn’t see the lines she’s drawn between them, as much as she insists that they’re there. Deep down he knows that despite their differences, they’re a match well made.

*A romantic comedy inspired by Jane Austen’s Emma*

*ARC provided in exchange for an honest review*

This story! Oh my GOD! I love this book! I really, really do! It is so amazing! I just don’t have the words to describe how amazing it is! I am in love with this story and that is all there is to it, really.

It is a friends to something more romance and I love those! It’s just so heartwarming to see two friends who are so comfortable with each other realize that their feelings run deeper and then explore the same. I love the feel of it. The awkwardness, the shy adorableness that is prevalent in such situations, all of it! So, yeah, I love this story because this provides exactly that to the readers.

Cam and Tyler are such amazing friends and seeing their relationship morph into more is amazing. They already know each other so well – their likes and dislikes and wants and needs. So, it is really great how they just dive into a relationship once they realize how they feel about each other. Of course, they do dance around a little, afraid that it might ruin their friendship, but then they persevere through. Thankfully!

Of the two of them, it is definitely Cam who needs the reassuring that all is going to be fine. And Tyler does such an amazing job of it. He is there with her, every step of the way, holding her, guiding her and making her believe that what they have is real and that is what he wants. He’s just so, so, so very amazing, I don’t have the words to say. I adore him, plain and simple. He makes me laugh and he makes me smile and he makes me fall in love with him. He is cute and adorable and loving and caring and also sexy and beautiful. Who wouldn’t fall for him? He’s just really amazing.

Cam, on the other hand, I identified a lot with her. She’s a bookworm, always reading something or the other, her nose buried in a book, not unlike me. She’s sort of shy and reserved when it comes to her own love life but loves playing matchmaker to others. She’s witty and feisty which I absolutely love. She’s not afraid to stand up for herself, but she also doubts herself in the capacity that she doesn’t believe that Tyler can stay with her for a long time. Her fears come from a deep seated place inside of her and until you know her story, you may think that she’s being unnecessarily pushy about the whole thing and unreasonably insecure when it comes to Tyler. The struggles that she faces may seem unimportant but they’re truthful. Many people face the circumstances as her and that’s what makes this relatable.

Do I wish she hadn’t been so hasty in making some decisions? Yes.

But after reading the story do I understand why she did it? Completely.

All in all, this is one amazing, kickass read that is a must for all romance lovers out there! Staci Hart is absolutely brilliant at what she does and if you’ve not read her books, you’re seriously missing out. Like, seriously!

Go read this, now! And fall in love with Tyler. Deeply and irrevocably. ❤

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life: a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, even though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey. Her favorite word starts with f and ends with k.

From roots in Houston, to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she’s not writing, she’s sleeping, cleaning, or designing graphics.

Twelve Hours in Paradise, Kathryn Berla – Book Review

29902036Twelve hours, thirty-six questions, and a chance to fall in love… It’s the last day of Dorothy Patmont’s family vacation. Soon, she must head back to Reno, where all that waits for her is the cold and the snow. To top it all off, her brother, Chester, acted like a little jerk and ate one too many cookies from the sample jar in the cookie store. But his antics have an unexpected benefit-attracting the attention of an intriguing boy who could change her life forever. Treats can be sweet, but love is sweeter still… Arash Atkinson, fluent in four languages and an adventurous soul, is in Waikiki for a high school band competition. When he meets Dorothy, he realizes their time together is limited. “Come out and play,” he texts her. A night of romantic adventure ensues, and Arash discovers an app that claims it can make people fall in love after answering thirty-six questions in each other’s presence. With each question asked, their stories and feelings continue to unfold. But with every hour that passes they’re more at risk of being found out-Dorothy, by her parents, and Arash by his school chaperone. And then Arash gets the dreaded phone call-he has been discovered missing from his room, and must return immediately. Can they finish the questions before facing their consequences? When time is running out, true love cannot wait. What Arash and Dorothy have is beyond special, something that comes along once in a lifetime, and begins with Twelve Hours In Paradise…but can it survive the trials of the real world?

This story is just so… *sighs* An amazing feel – good romance for those of you looking for a light hearted read with the swoons. This book has the capability of lifting your mood infinitesimally and bringing a huge smile to your face. It’s smart and cute and adorable and beautiful and breathtaking. All at once.

But one day not too long ago, from the time the sun set to when it rose again, my entire life was contained within twelve precious hours.
Reflected back at me through a boy’s eyes.
Sampled by his lips.
Held tightly in his arms.

See, swoons? It is beautiful. The way the emotions of these two teens have been described is beautiful and heartwarming. You want them to be happy. You want them to be together. This book makes you route for them from the very beginning.

“I’ve met this girl, you see. A young lady. And she’s everything I’ve ever dreamed…what I’m trying to say is that she has all the qualifications for a fellow adventurer and I’m currently on an adventure with her. It’s too late to turn back now.”

The story begins with Dorothy meeting Arash at a hotel. They get talking when Arash returns Dorothy stuff that she left behind at one of the counters. They exchange numbers and then later in the night, Arash calls Dorothy to accompany him on an adventure to which she readily agrees. They decide that their adventure will be answering thirty six questions to each other which when answered in the presence of the other is guaranteed to make you fall in love with them. What happens that night changes their life for forever.

“I would be calm, naturally. Peaceful. Or maybe not, I take that back. On the contrary, my senses would be fully engaged and heightened to their maximum potential. I’d see everything and hear everything all around me, no matter where I was. I’d recognize it as the art and music of life. I’d taste the sweetness of a piece of fruit as if for the first time. A soft breeze would caress me and ruffle my hair like someone’s fingers massaging my scalp.”

These questions make them look into themselves. Make them think about what they want in life and what they’re doing to achieve it. These answers uncover their dreams and their desires and their fears. Of course, with the unearthing of the person they really are, it becomes sort of impossible to not fall in love.

“If we were characters in a book, or a movie or TV show, everything would work out perfectly and we’d live happily ever after.”

Throughout the story, these characters make you laugh, cry and just be happy about everything in your lives. They make you feel content and happy and lighthearted. They make you want to seize the day, to make your life what you want it to be. They make you believe that this is all you have and this is the life that you need to use to do everything you’ve ever dreamt off, because when are you going to do that?

“I want to live my life like there’s no hereafter. I can’t imagine anything as beautiful as what we have here, even with all the pain that comes with it. Look around you. This is already heaven. This is paradise.”

It is such a beautiful story. It really, really made me feel something. These two people are just teenagers, but their outlook on life and the way they think things makes you question your thoughts. It compels you to be the best version of you, to think things through before you make a decision.

“Like what it means to live entirely within a night like this. Take a chance. Be alive in the fullest sense of the word.”

What I love most about this book how it comes to a full circle. the way it ends is exactly the way it began, and yet the story has happened. It changed the lives of the characters.

This is an amazing story that I would recommend to anyone who wants to fall in love with falling in love. This is your perfect story come alive. Go, read!

The Player And The Pixie, Penny Reid & L. H. Cosway – Book Review

Genres: Contemporary, Romance, Sports, Humor

How can someone so smokin’ hot be so bad in bed? I mean, Sean Cassidy is absolute rubbish. RUBBISH. He is the epitome of walking, talking false advertising and I want a refund! Plus he’s an arsehole. So… what is wrong with me that I can’t stop thinking about him?

The Pixie and the Player is a full-length, romantic comedy novel, can be read as a standalone, and is the second book in the Rugby Series.

Lucy Fitzpatrick doesn’t like rugby.

As the little sister of Ireland’s most infamous rugby player, Lucy can’t seem to escape the championship-sized shadow cast by her big brother, or her mother’s frequent attempts to micromanage her future. Her rainbow hair is as free-spirited as her quest for inner peace, yet overbearing expectations keep bringing her down. And when she’s down, her compulsive little problem lands her in seriously big trouble.

Sean Cassidy is a cold-hearted brute… or so he’s been told. Frequently. By everyone.

His blonde locks, baby blues, and rock hard bod make ladies the world over drool with desire. As the rugby world’s second most infamous player, he should be basking in his success. But Sean has never been content settling for second place, and his frequent confrontations with Lucy’s big brother leave him cold. And when he’s cold, his compulsive little problem lands him in the lap of Lucy Fitzpatrick.

Sean has a problem only Lucy can solve. Lucy has a problem only Sean can fix. The solution seems obvious: you scratch my back, and I’ll bail you out of jail. But when their business arrangement unexpectedly leaves Sean scorching hot and Lucy on the precipice of inner peace, can they convince the world—and Lucy’s big brother in particular—that this is the real deal?

Either way, both the Player and the Pixie are about to teach each other some pretty monumental lessons about family, life, but most importantly, love.

For Nadia, Alex was her savior and beautiful, loving and devoted Master. Having always existed outside of conventional monogamy, Alex being an escort has never distressed Nadia. She empathized with women desperate to explore their submissive qualities. Nadia had never worried about losing Alex to another.
Until her.
Cara Valencia is different. She is the biggest movie star in the world and one of the most beautiful women alive. And she wanted Alex for herself. Nadia’s struggle to maintain her devotion and honesty under fierce jealousy is matched with her Master’s own struggle to manage his desire for another. Kristine Platt lost her lover. Then, she lost herself…
Fiercely independent and successful civil litigation attorney Kristine is used to taking charge and remaining under control. Life for her went according to plan, then it all fell apart.
Her break up with fellow attorney, Layne, leaves her shaken. She’d never imagined herself that capable of feeling that out of control.
A meeting with the owner of a discreet male escort service leads to a rather unusual relationship with male escort Nic Adair. The simplicity of their relationship appeals to her fear of intimacy. As the foundation of her confidence wanes, can Nic help Kristine restore balance in her life? Or is he just a distraction?
Learning to love and trust again may be too big a risk for Kristine. When a strange pattern of anonymous threats against her emerge, she will have to learn to trust the people in her life. Will her faith in herself and those that love her be restored? Or will everything cause her life to spin out of control?
James Day has everything he wants: a satisfying career as a physical therapist and a skill most men would envy–he’s good in bed. Women move in and out of his life seamlessly.

What could possibly go wrong?

James sets out to prove to Kate, and his sister Jenna, that there is more to him than his sexual talents. The truth of who he is, would have unforeseen consequences of their own. Has this self-proclaimed playboy finally met his match?

Mannie isn’t sure he still has a girlfriend. He isn’t sure what kind of man he wants to be. He isn’t sure if his sister will ever forgive him. The only thing he is sure of is that he wants everything in his life to change, except for his art. Drawing and tattooing is the only real thing he has.
An encounter with Alicia Porter, owner of the elite male escort service for women called, Desert Pleasures, leads to an unusual opportunity for Mannie. As he discovers his confidence and worth with women, he finds he only yearns for more.
When he meets Rain, it isn’t love at first sight. But the possibility of what he can feel and wants to feel, leads him on a journey of self-discovery. He doesn’t understand love, but wants it. Rain has had it, believes in its power, but mysteriously builds walls against it. Rain is only sure of one thing: they have to stay friends.
Rain won’t talk about her past. Mannie is desperate to find his future.
If love can hurt and the devastation can be long-lasting, Mannie can only hope that which can be broken, can be made whole again.

After chance encounters, misunderstandings, and a trailer load of sticky notes, the two grudgingly team up and find out they might not be as different as they first thought.

I absolutely adored this! Seriously, there are no other words to describe it! I absolutely, completely, totally adore this! It is just the absolute best thing ever! ❤

I love the story, I love the characters and I love the way the relationship between the main characters evolves. It is pretty amazing to read! 🙂

Liv, as a character is great! She’s cute and adorable. She’s smart, intelligent and incredibly savvy. She’s loyal and sensitive and takes things to heart. But, she has a great sense of humor and she is extremely competitive about pretty much everything. Yeah, sound good, doesn’t it? I absolutely love her. I really, really do. I like how she blushes all the time and at the same time she can be sexy if she wants to. She’s a klutz and isn’t afraid of speaking her mind. She’s brilliant, really. I love her! ❤

And Dax, oh my Dax! He is truly, completely delicious. He’s sweet and smart and mysterious and sexy. Yeah, all that wrapped into one handsome, glorious package for us to drool over. I’m sure I spent majority of the book fangirling about him and his perfection. He’s just the best. There’s no doubt about it. Yeah, he can be grumpy if he wants to be and he can come off as arrogant and prissy, but he really isn’t. He’s just hiding away from the world and brooding in his silence. He’s a great guy though. He looks after his mother all the time and loves her dearly. And, the way he is with Liv makes my heart melt and turns me into this swoony, gooey mess. I love it! He’s just everything I want in a man, I guess. He’s successful, smart and loyal. Not to mention funny and understanding and loving and caring. The fact that he’s got an amazing body and a handsome face doesn’t hurt either, eh?

And, I must add, my absolute favorite part of the book is the notes that are being passed around and the secret messages that they seem to carry. They’re funny and cute and sarcastic and adorable all at the same time and I love the heck out of them. I wish someone would send me such notes at times. I love how their notes change as the story goes forward and you can see the shift in their relationship through the notes. The pranks are only an added bonus. Seriously, these two play the best pranks. We could learn a thing or hundred from them.

So, yeah, I absolutely love these people. They’re great. Their story is amazing. It’s a freaking shit must read because you are seriously losing out if you don’t read this. A light hearted, fun read that leaves you with a smile on your face for hours and hours and that makes you feel good in all the right places at the right time in the right proportion. Yeah, this is a great story and I cannot wait till the next in the series is out! ❤

“Good, because I would never want to erase a moment we spent together. It doesn’t matter what happened.” Dax pulled her back. “I think I’m in love with you.”

“You think?”

“I know.”

Liv stared at him, eyes going round. She pinched him, earning a howl in response.

“What are you doing? Why did you pinch me?” he asked.

“Just making sure I’m not hallucinating again.” She grabbed a hold of his shirt, pulling him closer. “How much do you love me?”

“Enough to ignore that you felt the need to pinch me. I will also ignore that you think you are having hallucinations, because nothing will stop me from kissing you again. And then I plan to strip this god-awful sweater off you and show you just how much I’m in love with you.”

She kissed him lightly, brushing his lips with hers. “This sweater is not ugly.” Replacing her lips with her hands, she traced his lips. “But you may strip it off me.”

A triumphant grin on his face, he moved his hands underneath the offending garment, tracing her waist and slowly moving up her body, taking the sweater with him on the way up.

She’d pulled everything off until the one person who’d been her rock had been lost to her forever. A chance encounter with her boss, in the most unlikely of places, was the beginning of her salvation and the road to a temptation she wasn’t sure she’d survive.
Jackson was a force to be reckoned with, an alpha extreme, perfect for her submissive nature. At least she could forget about her past, for a while, and enjoy the pleasures of today – knowing that an eternity would never be possible with someone who couldn’t love her as long as he held onto the memories of his wife or could it?

I reached out for him, wanting to pull him closer for a kiss. He shook his head before he reached up under my shirt and pushed it up over my head to where my hands were stretched out. “I told you I didn’t want you to move those hands, or I’d bind them.”

Jax took a deep breath in, before admitting, “I want so badly to tie your hands with my shirt because I need the control it would provide, but I don’t want to trigger any bad memories.”

I lifted my arms to him with the shirt still hanging loose around my wrists. “Go ahead, sir. Do with me as you please. I’ll let you know if things get too much for me.”

He took the shirt and began to twist it a few times, pulling it here and there until my wrists were bound, and then returned my arms to the bed. His body was perched above mine taking in every inch of me before he grabbed my panties, ripped them from my body, and left me bared to him. “I don’t want any contracts between us. We both know what the BDSM lifestyle is about. I assure you, I’m not a sadist or masochist. I only live for the dominance, the submission, and a little kink in the bedroom. I’ll ask you about things and how you feel about them prior to us doing anything. You can pick a safe word if you’d like, but if you tell me to stop, then I’ll do just that.”

“Mushrooms,” I whispered.

His face drew up in a scowl. He hated mushrooms as much as I did, but then it dawned on him. “Your safe word?”

I nodded.

His lower body pressed against mine while his arms tried to support most of his weight. A half smile lit up his face. “Only you’d pick something that we both hate as a safe word.”

I couldn’t help but smile with the look he was giving me – one of adoration. I knew this was a pivotal moment and there would be no going back. I only hoped the risk of jumping in was worth it.

Jackson’s tone got serious. “You are so beautiful, someone I’ve come to care about and cherish. I know we just promised to take things slow, but I don’t know that I can resist any longer. You’ve thawed my heart and awakened my carnal desires. I’ve fought the urges to kiss you and to be with you, but I can’t fight any longer. I need you, Robin. I need your submission to me – body and soul.”

“Yes,” flew out of my mouth in a heated sultry tone as I arched my back to him. His words were heating me from the inside out, and I needed to feel the power of the connection surging between us. I wanted to experience the force of his dominance.

A smirk spread across his face as his hand pushed some of my hair back behind my ear. “Don’t think for one minute that I’ll let you have all the control. I’ll do right by you and test your limits. All I ask is that you trust me to guide you to where we both find nirvana.”

I closed my eyes and cherished each word he’d just said. “Yes, sir.”

He continued to rest his weight on my lower body as he wiggled his way out of his boxers and threw them on the floor. His knees pushed mine further apart as he slipped his fingers through my folds to test my wetness. “You’re soaked.” He seemed surprised.

“Only for you, sir,” I admitted sheepishly, casting my eyes down because I wasn’t supposed to have direct eye contact with a dominant.

The Wedding Date, Kelly Eadon – Book Review

27964387Kate Massie has big dreams-they just haven’t worked out. Yet. In the meantime, she spends her days clerking for a judge and her nights fantasizing about her tall, dark, and sexy gym crush. So when she runs into him one night, she’s shocked to realize he was her shy, nerdy junior-prom date. But that isn’t where the surprises end . . .

James Abell needs a date to his sister’s wedding. So when Kate agrees, he’s relieved . . . until one little lie turns their wedding date into a full-blown fake relationship. Only it doesn’t feel fake-not the toe-curling kisses and definitely not the electricity. Neither of them is looking for something real . . . but they just might fall for their own little white lie.

So, second chances and a fake relationship? Yeah, sounds fun. Because it is!

The story revolves around Kate and James, two people who kind of, sort of grew up together. Kate went to Junior Prom with him because James was dateless as a favor to a friend. She had a surprisingly good time, but then life got in the way. They didn’t stay in touch after that night.

But, that was then. James has come a long way from being the shy, awkward nerd he was in high school. Now, he’s smart, successful and sinfully delicious. And, as it happens to be, single. Kate has had a crush on him for sometime now, but she only knows him as the sexy man who goes to the gym at the same time as her.

However, one coincidental meeting has her finding out that it is in fact, James, her date to Junior Prom. To say that she is surprised is an understatement. And, when their mutual friend suggests that James take Kate to her sister’s wedding as his date, Kate finds herself agreeing. It’s a favor, again, but she can’t say no because James’ sister is getting married to his ex fiancee’s brother and his mother has been on his case insisting he bring a date so that she isn’t embarrassed in front of the groom’s mother.

However, things spiral downward when James’ mother believes that Kate is not just James’ date for the wedding, but also his girlfriend. And so, begins their fake relationship, trying to convince the people around them that they are in fact a couple when in love when they’re just two people who’ve met after a long time and have tons of sexual tension between them.

The crux of the matter is whether or not they’ll give into their feelings for one other.

Yes, awesome plot! I really like it. The story development is great and the character arcs are amazing. It’s like they grow by leaps and bounds in their journey, especially James. Coming out of a complicated relationship and unsure of himself, he turns into this extremely loving and caring boyfriend who loves his girl more than anything else in the world. That is my favorite part to read. How James grows through the story.

Similarly, Kate who is lost and confused and lonely and doesn’t really know who she is or where she belongs finds home. She finds people who love her and who help her embrace who she really is, what she wants to be and leave the past behind.

James and Kate’s story is beautifully told in this book and I adore it.

Kate is smart and headstrong and kind and loving. She is fiercely opinionated and isn’t afraid of speaking what’s on her mind. She’s fun to be around and full of life and loves cracking jokes. She’s also confused and unsure of herself and her life. She’s always second guessing herself and whether she’s worthy or not. The complexity of her emotions makes her a multi dimensional character with complex feelings and I really like that. She’s an absolute delight to read!

James is smart and suave and sexy and hot. He’s a gentleman. He’s kind and caring and sweet. He really loves his family and goes out of his way to make them happy. He may not like his mother most of the time, but he loves her a lot and he does many things he doesn’t want to to keep her happy, like faking a relationship with Kate. He loves his sister a whole lot and his brothers are his best buds. He’s a complete family man and it shows in all his thoughtful gestures. He is truly an amazing person and I love him! ❤

This is a really, really good book filled with lots of humor and quirky dialogue and kissing. A must read for all romantics! ❤

She cut her hair. Josh realized he was staring at the girl in the next row and pulled his gaze back to his notebook as the teacher droned on about supply and demand curves. I don’t care for short hair on girls. Yet he couldn’t keep his eyes off her. He didn’t even know her name. On Friday her hair had been long, the silky black tresses reaching below her shoulder blades. Today, he could see the back of her neck. He could see how long and slender it was and watched as she reached around to feel it, seeming surprised, perhaps still unused to the short cut. She pushed the long front layer behind her ear. The purple streak is kind of cute, though. He once again forced his gaze back to his notes, reminding himself that he had a girlfriend; a beautiful girlfriend with long blonde hair. Focus, Harris. Get your mind off the pretty girl with the short hair. She was pretty. He’d always thought so, even though he didn’t know her name. He’d heard it; wasn’t it something weird? Enough! Supply, demand. That’s all you need to think about.“So, for the next few weeks you will be paired up with one of your classmates as we launch a new project designed to help you experience some of what it takes to create and stick to a household budget.” Mr. Griego picked up a stack of index cards from his desk. “I have created a scenario with careers and incomes for each couple. Some of you have children, and some don’t. Every few days you will get a new financial situation you have to deal with. Each week of this project will be the equivalent of one month for your budget. You will turn in a complete six month budget, along with a written report at the end of the project. Each couple will also give a five-minute oral presentation.” He started calling names and handing out index cards. There were groans and titters of laughter as the names were called because some of the couples were same-sex. “Josh Harris and Bernie Abeyta.” No one in the class said anything or laughed at the pairing. Josh wasn’t surprised; he had pretty much fallen off the radar over a year ago. He stood and walked to the front of the room to retrieve the index card.

“Who’s Bernie Abeyta?” he asked quietly. Great. I’m paired with a guy. Just what I needed.

The girl with the short, purple hair raised her hand. “Me.” She sounded bored.

“Okay. I’m, uh, I’m Josh.” He stood in front of her desk, awkwardly shifting from side to side.

“Yeah. I’m Bernie.” She glanced up quickly, meeting his gaze, then looked away.

“You have the last fifteen minutes of class to exchange contact information, phone numbers, email addresses, whatever you need to get in touch with your partner. Most of the project work will need to be on your own time as you will need to visit grocery stores and do some online research,” Mr. Griego said.

Josh sat down in the newly vacated desk in front of Bernie. “So.” He waved the index card. “One of us is a teacher and the other is an attorney. Which do you want to be?”

Bernie shrugged. “It doesn’t really matter to me. You choose.”

He looked at her, a half-smile on his face. Close-up he noticed that she had beautiful, smooth, light-brown skin and her eyes were so dark they looked black. She didn’t wear much makeup; she didn’t need to. “Fine. I’ll be the teacher. You can be the attorney.” She looked up quickly. “Is that okay?”

She shrugged again. “Sure. It doesn’t matter. Do we have kids?”

“Yeah, we have two: an eight-year-old daughter and a six-year-old son. So, I guess we should exchange phone numbers and email.” He scrawled his information on a page of his notebook and tore it out, handing it to her.

She took the page, staring at it blankly for a moment before tearing a piece of paper out of her own notebook. “Here’s my email.”

He looked at it. “What’s your cell number?”

“I don’t have one. Just the email.”“Oh. Okay.” Josh had never heard of anyone his age who didn’t have a cell phone. “So, do you want to get together tonight to get started on this? We could meet at my house. Or yours. Whatever you want.”

“Yours. Here.” She pushed the paper back at him. “Write your address. I have to work until seven. I can be there around seven-thirty. Is that okay?” She didn’t meet his eyes.

“Uh, sure. That’s fine. Here.” He handed the paper back. “Do you need a ride or anything?”

“Oh. Great. So, I’ll, uh, see you tonight. I guess.” He had never been so tongue-tied around a girl.

“Yeah.” She turned her attention back to her notebook, clearly dismissing him.

Josh returned to his seat, chagrined. I seem to have lost my touch. Then again, he hadn’t really been trying very hard for a long time. He used to be much better at this whole thing: friends, girls, talking. Now he simply didn’t have the energy anymore. It was October of his senior year and he was biding his time until he could graduate and move on with his life. She’s really pretty, though. He groaned inwardly as he packed his notebook and shouldered his backpack. He knew he had no business noticing how pretty his new partner was; he should be thinking about how gorgeous his girlfriend had looked in her cheerleading uniform that morning during the pep rally. She was beautiful, sweet, and had stuck by him through a seriously dark time in his life. He had really been phoning it in lately with Kayleigh. Jeez, he could do better. He merged with the flow of humanity in the hallway, determined to do right by her, starting tomorrow at lunch.
