A teen girl starting at a new school is torn between long-held loyalties and a bright new love in this irresistible new YA contemporary romance from the author of A Little Something Different.

Paisley is really looking forward to college. She is ready to take charge of her destiny and embrace some new experiences! Finding a hot guy to make out with at her first ever college party seems like a great start…until her best friend informs her that mystery guy is actually Carter Schmitt, Paisley’s sworn enemy who basically ruined their lives in middle school.

So much for new people and exciting new experiences. Oh well. Paisley will just pretend he doesn’t exist. Of course that would be easier if Carter, AKA her super-hot-sworn-enemy, hadn’t ended up in threeof her classes AND the same work study. Is it too late to rethink this college thing?

Sandy Hall, author of A Little Something Different and A Prom to Remember, is heading back to college in this sweet and quirky contemporary romance.

My Best Friend’s Ex, Meghan Quinn – Book Review

35004715When I found an eviction notice taped on my apartment door, I had two options: find a comfortable cardboard box to call home, or move in with Tucker Jameson.

Seeing that cardboard makes me feel itchy, I chose the latter. Which shouldn’t be that big of a deal Tucker is one of my good friends. And because he’s still pining after his ex-girlfriend and I’m trying to finish my nursing degree, there is nothing to worry about in the romance department, making my last semester an easy one to conquer.

Boy, was I wrong.

Rules are set, dinners are made, conversations are had, and a shirtless, swoony roommate walks around in nothing but a pair of black briefs, ruining me for every other man.

Before I know it, I turn into a panting, lust-filled woman begging for Tucker to kiss me, touch me, and show me exactly what is hiding under those briefs.

But with great orgasms, comes great consequences.

Tucker might be my friend and roommate but he’s also my best friend’s ex-boyfriend, making him completely off-limits. At least that’s what my brain is telling me, my heart is speaking an entirely different language.

*ARC received in exchange for an honest review. The thoughts are entirely my own and in no way biased.*

My Best Friend’s Ex is the story of Tucker and Emma. Emma and Tucker have been friends since high school and Tucker used to date Emma’s best friend before a tragedy tore them apart. They haven’t spoken since the break up and then run into each other at a bar. Emma has 2 days to find a place to live before she’s evicted from her apartment because the bank is taking over her building. So, Tucker offers up his place, his brand new place that he’s originally bought for himself and Sadie, the ex. Not having another option, Emma agrees and moves in with him. The beginning of their living situation is awkward because Emma thinks her loyalty is with her best friend, but she can’t help rethink that because no matter what, Tucker is her friend too. Their past comes in the way and they’re both toeing around each other for a while before they settle into an easy friendship. But, as their friendship progresses, their feelings grow and the apparent forbidden nature of their relationship is difficult for the both of them to overcome.

I love how breezily this story flows. It is so natural and easy going. Not once did I think, oh this is too fast! Oh, this shouldn’t have happened. I was in for the ride from the beginning and it was a smooth and easy one. I liked it. I love how the author has written the relationship between Tucker and Emma. The slow burn is so SLOW. GOSH! But, I do adore the bond the two form as they progress towards their romance. I mean, I loved that though it was apparent that they were both attracted to each other, they rebuilt their friendship instead of jumping into bed together. That was so gratifying to read. So many brownie points for that, Meghan!

I love Tucker. God, do I ever love him. He is so amazing. It’s hard to not love him. So many times I just wished to go inside the story and wrap him up in a tight hug and take all his worries away. He’s such an amazing character. He’s loving and caring and funny and sweet and sexy. GAH! So, sexy! I adore him. I adore him so much. I love his character arc. He’s grown so much during the story, given up on so many things and realized so many others. His journey is amazing and I am so proud of him to have overcome all his demons and just be the best person he could be. It took a lot of effort and it shows. It’s amazing.

I like Emma too. She’s so focused and driven. But, Tucker brings out the carefree side in her and encourages her to let loose. She is so sweet. But, I hate that she was hung up on the fact that Tucker is Sadie’s ex. Yes, it’s a huge thing because Sadie is one of her best friend’s and she feels like she’s betraying Sadie by going out with Tucker. I understand that. Completely. But, I hate how she was always belittling their relationship, assuming that Tucker maybe comparing her to Sadie in everything. She assumed the worst of Tucker, that if push comes to shove he would leave her without even talking to him about it. I just hate how she wrote him off so easily. That is not fair to him.

But, Tucker just made me swoon with all his gestures to win Emma over. They were so grand but also heartfelt at the same time and I was just swept off my feet, seeing how much Tucker did care about Emma and how much he loved her. It was the most amazing thing ever.

All in all, My Best Friend’s Ex is a great read that has elements of romance, humour, drama and angst all wrapped up in one tiny package for you to read and enjoy. I certainly did! 😀

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!

Rescued, Phoebe Rose – Blog Tour

Welcome to my tour stop for Rescued by Phoebe Rose. Rescued is a New Adult romance with snark, witty banter, and kittens. Can be read as a standalone. It is rated 18+.

Thomas is a hot geek, a twenty-three year old entrepreneur with no time for dating…and even less time to deal with the stray kittens who’ve claimed his patio as their home. Seattle college senior Tessa is a born rescuer, warm and caring–and sick of getting her heart bruised by guys like Thomas. But when he sees her rescue a kitten while wearing kitten heels, he’d do anything to kiss her. And while Tessa vows she’ll never let herself fall for a sexy, ambitious businessman, she fears she’s already in over her head.

This book is good. I like it. I mean, the story is not something that is new, but the writing is great. The way the characters are portrayed – their behavior, their personality, their emotions – it’s what makes it great. I like the quirkiness and the smart, sarcastic vibe that is there in this book the entire time.
The characters are really, really good. I like Tessa so much! She’s this ball of sarcasm and wit wrapped into procrastination and warmth and kindness who just demands to be loved by the reader. She’s a little insecure and a whole lot naive, but she is absolutely awesome! I love her. Really, I do. She’s such an amazing person. Kind and forgiving and loving. Always there to help her friends. Rescuing animals. Yeah, she’s great! 😀
Thomas is also real nice. He’s smart and stupid intelligent. Yes, I know that they’re opposites. I mean, he’s really, really intelligent. He’s younger than 25 and has already sold two of his start ups and is the CEO of his third. So, yeah crazy intelligent. He’s snarky and possessive and protective and just amazing. He’s super adorable and just melts your heart!
Like I said, the writing is what drew me in. The story is fast paced and doesn’t make you wait and doesn’t bore you. Which I like. I just wish that there had been a chapter or two before the epilogue. Seriously, the ending was a little rushed. I wanted to see more of the conflict resolution than what was shown. If the author would have done that, this book would have been so much better than what it is now. True story.
But, apart from that one issue I seem to have with this story, everything else is great! It really, really is! I loved it! So, so much! Makes your heart melt and smile so damn bad.
A definite recommendation for a light hearted, cutesy read on a weekend! 🙂

#FlashbackFriday – A Beautiful Disaster, Jamie McGuire

11505797The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

*lovestruck sighs*

How am I supposed to tell you how much I love this? Because I do. I love this so very much. So, very, very much. Just, this is one of the most amazing things ever. ❤

This is the story that introduced me to Jamie McGuire. But most importantly, it’s the story that gave the world the Maddox brothers. The swooniest of them all (in my opinion) is and will always be Travis Maddox. Thank you, Blair, for recommending this story to the world. You gave me one of my favorite book boyfriends with this and for that I’m forever grateful.

A Beautiful Disaster is the story of Abby Abernathy and how she falls irrevocably in love with Travis Maddox. They’re an amazing couple. Going from acquaintances to friends to finally being a couple, theirs is a beautiful journey filled with many ups and downs in between. They fight, they fail, they try and they love. This is a story of forgiveness above all else. To forgive the one you love for making a mistake that you believe is unforgivable. It’s about giving second chances when you don’t think you’ve got any second chances left to give, but you give them anyway because that one person means the world to you and you’d do anything to keep them in your life.

Abby seems to be your typical girl next door. She’s got her best friend and she’s looking forward to graduating college and moving on in life to bigger things. However, as the story unveils, we find out that she’s not your average girl. She’s got secrets, some which are painful, some which are dark and deadly. She’s running away from her past and she’s been doing a damn good job of it too, for a while. But, when the past catches up, can she forgive Travis for making a choice he knows she despises? Abby is an amazing girl. She’s smart and fierce and loyal. She’s beautiful, kind and loving. She’s absolutely amazing, really. Sure, she’s made her fair share of mistakes, but she’s good people. I love her!

Travis is, without a doubt, the single most amazing man on Earth. He’s your typical tattooed player, bad boy fighter at college. But then, he meets Abby and his world is turned upside down. He falls in love and he falls fast and deep. It’s like he’s a changed man once that happens. You wouldn’t be able to recgonise the Travis you met in the first chapter and the Travis who’s in the last. He’s still smooth as fuck and he’s still a fighter, but what he’s not is a player. He stops sleeping with random girls everyday to be with Abby. And the way he loves Abby – completely, deeply, reverently and irrevocably – which makes him a different man, a better man. He’s phenomenal. He’s handsome and sexy and adorable and sweet and loving and devoted. He worships the ground Abby walks on and he can literally die for her. It’s amazing to read. He’s just… he’s out of the world. I love him.

All in all, A Beautiful Disaster is a beautiful story with amazing characters and a great plot. It’s something that I’d definitely recommend you to read!

I belong to my beloved and my beloved is mine. – Travis Maddox

“The only thing I’m afraid of is a life without you, Pigeon.” – Travis Maddox

“I didn’t know I was lost until you found me. I didn’t know what alone was until the first night I spent without you in my bed. You’re the one thing I’ve got right. You’re what I’ve been waiting for, Pigeon.” – Travis Maddox

“No, it’s a car. The love of my life will be a women with my last name.” – Travis Maddox

“It’s a dove, an attractive girl, a winning card in poker, take your pick. You’re my Pigeon.” – Travis Maddox

If I could, I’d fill pages and pages with all things that I love that Travis says, but that would take too long and you’d never get the full effect of the words when they’re said in that exact situation. So, we’ll leave it here. Have fun reading!

Ninja At First Sight, Penny Reid – Book Review

What do a cynical former Marine and a sheltered former Olympic contender have in common?
Absolutely nothing.
He has a girlfriend and she’s never been kissed.
He’s sullenly sarcastic and she’s earnestly empathetic.
He can’t stop thinking about her.
She knows she should keep her distance.
Nevertheless, when opposites attract, the results may be unexpected, but they’re also undeniably magnetic.

I will start by telling you guys about this wonderful woman who I absolutely adore. Her name is Penelope Reid. And I love her. I love everything that she’s ever written. Each and every word that has been written by Penny Reid, is loved. Emphatically and wholly and irrevocably. I love Quinn and I love Nico and I love Alex and I love Drew and I love Duane and I love Martin. I love all of them, because they’re a product of her imagination, and I can not begin to tell you how much I love her imagination.

The way she spins words and gives them her own, unique, Penny touch is absolutely amazing. I have been hooked on Penny Reid’s novels since I read the first one last year. Post that, it was never enough and I’ve read everything by her. (Well, almost everything. I still have to read Hooker and the Hermit. I promise I’ll get to it soon!) But, yeah, I’ve read her books, I’m a religious follower of her blog, I love her Twitter feed and I stalk her on Pinterest. So, yeah, you get the picture. I love her. Period.

So, of course, it was no surprise when I found out about Ninja At First Sight, I had to read it. I admit I was delayed because life got in the way, but I’ve finally read it and I absolutely love it. I love Greg almost as much as I love Quinn and that’s saying something because you can not imagine how much I love Quinn Sullivan. Greg is almost at par. So, good work, Greg Archers. You should be proud of yourself.

The story starts with Fiona saying goodbye to her uptight mother and her mostly absent father as she moves into dorms to start college. Fiona is a homebody and doesn’t really leave the comfort of her dorm except when she’s in class or eating or at the gym or when Dara has Hivan over. She doesn’t have many friends but she’s content to let it stay that way. She’s a shy girl who has never dated. She’s never been kissed either.

All that changes when Fern, a girl who lives on her floor takes it upon herself to introduce Fiona to all the people living in their dorm building, including the boys. (Yes, she stays in co ed dorms. How cool is that?) Anyway, this leads to her meeting Greg. Suffice to say that they’re quite taken with each other from the get go.

Their conversations revolve around misogyny and manifestos and sexism. Greg loves to challenge Fiona in debates and she answers him right back. Greg also seems to have an obsession with seeing Fiona do a back flip. (Spoiler : She does actually do a back flip for him later in the story.)

The story is in essence, a long torturous foreplay before Fiona ‘Fe’ and Gregory ‘Greg’ finally get to their wits and get together. And I love it. It’s adorable and geeky and witty and downright hilarious.

That’s the thing about Penny’s books though, they’re always funny and witty and the girls are strong and resilient and the guys are sarcastic/funny and absolutely swoon worthy. Just like Greg (Quinn still wins though. Sorry, Greg!).

I adore this. I adore Greg and I adore Fiona. I especially adore Greg’s Shakespearan insults. Not many people can pull them off, but Greg does it beautifully. So, points for that. And, he can turn anyone into a hot mess in minutes. Brownie points for that. And, he loves Fiona. A lot. And by lot, I really mean a lot. Which means, we have a winner, ladies and gentlemen! And the winner of one Fiona is Greg!

I loved this novella which gave us insight into Greg and Fiona’s relationship and I can’t read to read their complete story in Happily Ever Ninja, which should be out in 2 days! So, suffice to say I’m just about bouncing off the walls in anticipation.

Providing ratings for pieces of art seems to belittle them, mainly because there aren’t enough ratings in the world, but we’ll try to settle.

But I want to be your only source of romantic situations from this point forward.

I want to be your first everything.

Happy Readings! ❤
