Turn The Page, Sydney Logan – Release Day Review

35179621Sex. Drugs. Rock and roll.

Life in the fast lane is nothing new to Corbin James.

After completing his second stint in rehab, Corbin heads home to Riverview, determined to leave the music world behind and focus on his family, his songwriting, and his sobriety.

Crippled with debt but determined to make it on her own, Jolie Daniels pours her heart and soul into the town’s bookstore. When Corbin finds his debut album in Jolie’s discount bin, sparks fly between the pretty bookstore owner and the rock star musician.

Corbin knows he’s nowhere near good enough for a sweet girl like Jolie . . .

But he wants to be.

When a record label approaches Corbin with the chance to make a musical comeback, he doesn’t think twice before saying no. He’s ready to settle down, and he wants to do it with Jolie. However, when her beloved bookstore is threatened with foreclosure, Corbin finds himself signing a contract that will take him away from home and back on tour for three months.

Can Corbin resist the temptations of the tour? Or will the loneliness of the road resurrect all the demons he’s worked so hard to bury?

Turn The Page is a heartwarming love story between Corbin & Jolie, two people who are as different as they come. But, of course, a chance meeting leads to them falling for each other, hard. Corbin is a has been rockstar who lost himself in the fame and money and women and drugs. After a second stint in rehab, he’s come home for the first time in years, to find himself. Jolie owns a small bookstore that is her pride and joy in Corbin’s hometown. Soon after getting home, Corbin runs into her at the bookstore and sparks fly. They spend time together and then start seeing each other and fall in love, but their blissful lives are thrown for a loop when Corbin is invited to go on tour again.

I really like Jolie. She’s such a fab MC. She’s fiercely independent and headstrong, sweet and loving and caring. She is so dedicated. But, she can be a little too proud and refuse help even when people offer it willingly – like her Dad or Corbin. I love how she isn’t fazed at all by the fact that Corbin is a huge celebrity, even during their first meeting and she rightfully puts him in his place – amazing meet cute if you ask me.

And then, there’s Corbin. My, my that man. He’s made some piss poor choices in the past, but he’s seeking redemption and trying to turn himself around and that’s commendable. He is so dedicated in his want to become a better man – a worthy man, it’s heartwarming to read. He wants to be worthy of his family, of Jolie and to make them proud of who he is. I think by the end of the story he had successfully accomplished that. He had a lot of trials to go through, so many temptations on the way but he never once deviated and concentrated on the prize ahead. It is a really admirable journey. But, other than that, he is such a loving and caring man and she has so much love to give – it even surprises him. But, he’s absolutely, completely amazing and he deserves it all. I’m so glad he got it in the end.

The story itself is so beautifully written and all the characters are beautifully translated on page. I love that it wasn’t dragged out unnecessarily. All the characters had their purpose and no one was out of place in the setting. And the explosion of emotions all through the book – OH MY GOD! Not just Jolie and Corbin, but their family and friends too. I mean, of course, Corbin’s actions hurt his family deeply and their relationships weren’t repaired overnight. In all their interactions it was so obvious that they loved Corbin and wanted the best for him. It was particularly amazing.

All in all, it was a beautiful read with so much love and integrity and I adore it. Sydney is a magician when it comes to love stories and this one is another beautiful feather in her cap!

This One Moment, Stina Lindenblatt – Book Review

25266476When Nolan Kincaid skipped town to chase the music career of his dreams, he knew he wouldn’t miss the reminders of his broken family—he wasn’t so sure he could forget the girl he left behind. Now his band is touring nonstop, the recording sessions go all night, and the groupies are crazed. But when he hears that Hailey Wilkins is in trouble, he drops everything.

Hailey thought she’d missed her chance with Nolan. Five years ago, the moment she realized she loved him was the moment he decided to leave. Now, when a brutal assault lands her in the ICU, Nolan flies straight to her bedside, acting like nothing’s changed. What’s a rock star like him doing, canceling shows and risking his record deal, just to nurse an old friend back to health? And why should Hailey believe he’ll stay this time?

With her attacker still at large, Nolan’s ready to rise to the occasion. He knows he let Hailey down once before, but he’s ready to give her everything, heart and soul—and he’ll fight for the chance to prove it.

*ARC provided in exchange for an honest review*

So, this is again a second chance romance.. My, they seem to be popular lately! :p

But, get this – big time rockstar who has the world at his feet and his best friend who he hasn’t talked to in years. His best friend who he most definitely had feelings for but didn’t do anything about them because he didn’t want to ruin their friendship.

And, then, he finds out that said best friend, Hailey, is in a coma. And that he might lose her, for good. That is not something that Nolan is ready for. He is not ready for this to be the end of whatever it is between him and Hailey. And, after such a close call, he can’t let her go. Not now, not ever.

But, she’s back home and he’s in LA and though he’s here for her now, he can’t uproot his life. He’s got a record to make and a band to look after, his shows and his fans and his life. It’s all in LA. Plus, home brings bad memories. It’s the place he lost his mother and his little sister and he’s not ready to relive those moments again. He’s afraid that going back will make him remember what he forgot. That horrific night when he lost them. PTSD, his doctors said. And thought it’s extremely childish of him, he’s not ready to remember yet.

This book is extremely well written. The story is amazing and the suspense is thrilling. Hailey’s attacker and Nolan’s memories and the whole mystery behind both of them is really, really intriguing. I love it. Also, there’s a lot of conflict in the book. The characters are at conflict between each other and in themselves as well. This serves for great character development. They’re both hesitant to give it their all because they haven’t talked in years. But, the distance has done nothing to diminish their love for each other and they are still very much in love and still really afraid of admitting it for the fear of being rejected.

It serves for a great plot and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The characters are so real and their struggles are so honest that you can’t help but connect with them. It’s amazing, really. Beautiful and gorgeous. Yes, it’s a little angsty in parts and there are parts that are dragged out but that just makes the ending more satisfying. It serves for a great, great read.

Overall, Hailey and Nolan are a great couple. They’ve made their mistakes and want to work past their issues to finding each other, but there’s something holding them back, always. They’re just so scared and afraid, it makes my heart ache for them and there were parts where all I wanted was to drag either of them to me and comfort them and make them realize that they loved each other and that they should go for it!

But, it’s never easy, is it? They have their demons and their issues and complications. There’s the possibility of it being a long distance relationship and there’s also the fact that Nolan’s label has entirely different plans for him. Ones which don’t include Hailey at all. Plus, there’s a fact that there’s killer on the loose. On who wants Hailey dead. So, yeah. They have tons and tons of issues.

Although, at the same time they’re so in love with each other. And, they’d do anything to make the other feel better and feel protected and safe. I love that about them. They may not see what’s in front of them but they love each other fiercely and honestly and completely. That kind of love is hard to come by. And I admire them for all the sacrifices they’ve made for each other. They’re a really great couple!

And, they surely deserve your time. Their story needs to be heard. And if you don’t read this, you’re seriously missing out!

She enjoys writing and bringing to life realistic and relatable characters, especially strong, sharp and savvy females who aren’t afraid to speak their mind.
